Darrang College, Tezpur, Assam
In alignment with the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Darrang College (Autonomous) is delighted to announce the introduction of the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) — B.A.-B.Ed. and B.Sc.-B.Ed. — commencing from the academic session 2026–27. Developed and regulated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), this innovative programme is designed to redefine teacher education by integrating general education with professional teacher training.
The ITEP is a dual-degree programme that combines academic study with school-based practical learning. It adopts an interdisciplinary and holistic approach, enabling student-teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of students across all levels of school education — Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary — as envisioned in the 5+3+3+4 structure of the NEP 2020. The programme aims to produce well-trained, reflective, and skilled educators capable of excelling in both elementary and secondary classrooms.
One of the key advantages of the ITEP (B.A.-B.Ed./B.Sc.-B.Ed.) is that it allows students to earn two degrees within four years, instead of the traditional five-year route, thus offering a more efficient pathway into the teaching profession without compromising academic rigor or professional preparedness.

This structure ensures a focused, high-quality educational environment that promotes individual attention, interactive learning, and effective professional development for future educators.
